Dr. Daniel began his dream by planting 114 different varieties of grapes, each one chosen for its potential to make great wine, on more than 10,000 vines. The grape varieties that Dr. Daniel cultivates include those that will survive the region's sometimes harsh winters. These varieties are known as "cold climate culitvars", grapes that are cold climate hardy and relatively disease free.
